I like to think I'm a storyteller. I capture snapshots in time, creating or reliving a moment, a feeling, remembering a smell, all of which transport you. My paintings are my way of sharing my perspective and joy with others who have a passion for those far-off lands. I have always loved to create! A vivid imagination, plus a piece of paper and a pencil meant I was good to go. My love of art continued after my formal education concluded. Needing to scratch that itch to be creative, I pursued employment in an industry that needed artistic ability. Thirty-six years of painting experience as a Traditional Brush Signwriter, a Professional Artist, and industry experience as a Graphic Designer and Wide Format Digital Printer has led me finally here.

I launched my business Lotus and Lilly Designs in Jan 2021 after procrastinating for many years. In 2009 I took time away from my "day job" and painted solidly for over 18 months which culminated in presenting my Solo Exhibition in November 2010. It was such an enriching experience and only encouraged me even more to pursue my love of brush art, which had been missing for many years. Using Digital Art Software on a day-to-day basis meant it had been roughly a decade since the decline and eventual halt to Traditional Brush Signwriting and my love for organic work had also stopped. Those 18th months were so much fun working on my Portfolio of work, entering art exhibitions, working with clients on bespoke artworks, and then my exhibition.

Life tends to take a turn and with my two children finishing senior education and looking towards University my return to steady employment was necessary.

After completing a business course at the start of 2020, I decided it was now or never, and the wheels were set in motion to build my own Art Business, Lotus and Lilly Designs which I launched in January 2021. It is a balance of work-life and business life, where I juggle a four-day-a-week job working as a Graphic Designer and Wide Format Digital Printer and my "other job" where I wear all the hats running my business on the side. Friday each week is "studio day" and the weekends for everything else. Being an e-commerce business (online) there is a huge amount of behind-the-scenes work - lucky I am passionate about it. Whoever said working for yourself is easier than working for someone else - hmm food for thought there!! From the social media, product development, social media, copywriting, social media, painting art, social media, accounting and bookkeeping, social media, business tutorials....see the common denominator. E-commerce is hard work when relying on no one else but yourself. Digging deep, being confident in your abilities, and being passionate about your craft, keep you coming back for more.

My plan moving forward is to turn this passion, my love of art into a full-time love affair and to paint every day.

I would love you to come along on the journey.
